He’s Backkk! Hawks Trae Young returns in epic win over Spurs

Last night Trae Young made his return to the court after rolling his ankle last week against the Heat.

Young came back with a vengeance showing true leadership down the stretch as he led the Hawks to a 108-100 victory against the Spurs on Tuesday at State Farm Arena.

The tale of two halves- In the first half Young put only one point on the board. At the second half Young secured a double-double in 30 minutes of play, scoring a game-high 29 points, to go along with a season-high 13 assists, two rebounds and two steals .

Trae Young also tied Tyrone Corbin for 23rd on the Hawks all-time three pointers made list with 175.

Jabari Parker stepped into the starting roll and collected 19 points, adding 8 rebounds.

De’Andre Hunter finished with a career-high 16 points and 8 rebounds.

At the post game presser Head Coach Lloyd Pierce said, “Trae Young’s pretty good. I thought he was, I thought he did a great job of really leading our guys down the stretch. We talked at halftime and he’s such a competitor and he’s always hard on himself. He’s 0-8 at halftime and he’s got eight assists, and just part of his growth and leadership is understanding how to play 48 minutes and really impact the game in a variety of ways.”

Young on returning to action after missing a game, “It felt good. It felt good just being able to be a piece and help my team. I’m just glad to be able to play again.”

The Hawks now (3-3) return to action today to face the Chicago Bulls at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is at 7:30
