Hawks unable to gain home court advantage to defeat Pistons on Friday

Returning from the All-Star Break the Atlanta Hawks were unable to gain home court advantage to defeat the Detroit Pistons on Friday at State Farm Arena.

The first quarter was high energy, but it was in the second quarter when, Atlanta took the lead by 14-points. Trae Young led the team with 20 points.

It was this explosive moment when Young dribbled the ball behind his back, between his legs and passed  the ball to Dewayne Dedmon, who finished with a dunk.

At the end of the half the 14- point gap was closed and the Pistons trailed the Hawks by 2-points.

What would’ve, could’ve, should’ve never happened last night.

Even with Pistons Blake Griffin being ejected early in the third quarter for taunting Hawks players and receiving two technical fouls; Atlanta was unable to hold off Detroit.

The Hawks loss to the Pistons 122-125.

Trae Young had a historical night when he collected 30 points and 10 assists. Trae Young now has 3, 30-point games this season, the most by a Hawks rookie since Dominique Wilkins in 1982-83.

John Collins also added 19 points.

Also, the Hawks elder statesman Vince Carter scored an impressive 16 points in 16 minutes.

The Hawks are on a mission to gain a win when the team match-up against the Phoenix Suns Saturday at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM EST.
