Man oh man, Atlanta just will not stop WINNING! On Thursday night, the Dream faced off at home with the New York Liberty. Guess who came out on top? If you guessed the Dream, you’re absolutely correct! They finished with a score of 82-68, blazing through the Liberty with their 6th win in a row!
For the Liberty, Tina Charles ended with 11 points,4 rebounds and 1 steal. Brittany Boyd, Bria Hartley and Kiah Stokes all had 8 points and combined for 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals but it wasn’t near enough to hold back the Atlanta Dream.
For the Dream, Renee Montgomery finished with 24 points,5 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds! Let’s just say she was scorching hot from the arc all night long, 7/13 from the 3 point line as if she could do it in her sleep. Right after her was Tiffany Hayes with 20 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds; 100% from the free throw line and 7/13 overall, you go girl! Alex Bentley, Brittany Sykes, Angel Mccoughtry, Jessica Breland and Elizabeth Williams all assisted for this win as well with a combined total of 33 helpful points, 28 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals. Talking about team effort, you cannot leave the Atlanta Dream out of that conversation!
Fast forward to Sunday, the Atlanta Dream had to take on the league leader, the Seattle Storm in order to secure their 7th straight win and you won’t believe this… they did! The final score was 87-74 and though it wasn’t easy, the Dream came out on top! For Seattle, Breanna Stewart dominated on the floor as she always does with 31 points,8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Sue Bird played her 500th game in the WNBA on Sunday, which is the top record for most games played, so a huge congratulations to Sue Bird for making history. Sue was a huge help to Stewart as she finished with 12 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds. Jewell Loyd had 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal to assist them in attempting to stop the Dream’s winning streak but it didn’t necessarily work out that way. What a huge team effort once again from the Atlanta Dream to pull out their 7th straight win, breaking franchise history! Elizabeth Williams had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists; Tiffany Hayes and Angel Mccoughtry both had 16 points and combined for 11 rebounds and 8 assists! Alex Bentley, Jessica Breland and Monique Billings combined for 25 points,12 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists! Way to work girls!
