The Atlanta Dream closed out August with another statement win, defeating the Minnesota Lynx 89-81 at home behind a balanced effort, multiple milestones and another record-setting night from Angel Reese.
Atlanta started Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon and Angel Reese, and that starting five moved to 25-9 this season.
The victory improved the Dream’s all-time record against Minnesota to 16-33 overall and 9-15 at home.
Atlanta also accomplished something it had not done in nearly six years, as Canada, Gray and Reese all recorded double-doubles in the same game. It marked the first time three Dream players posted double-doubles in one contest since Sept. 9, 2020.
Gray led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and three steals, recording her 12th career double-double and first of the 2026 season.
It was also another milestone-filled night for the four-time All-Star.
Gray knocked down the 500th three-pointer of her WNBA career, becoming just the 25th player in league history to reach that mark. Her third steal of the night also gave her 400 career steals.
Gray finished with a season-high 11 rebounds and a season-high six made three-pointers. Her 23-point performance marked her 20th game this season with at least 20 points, moving her into second place in Dream history for single-season 20-plus-point games.
Canada continued to control Atlanta’s offense, finishing with 16 points, four rebounds and 10 assists.
The performance gave Canada her seventh double-double of the season and ninth as a member of the Dream. She currently leads the franchise in points-assists double-doubles and recorded her ninth game this season with at least 10 assists.
Howard added 16 points, three assists, two steals and one block, giving Atlanta four starters in double figures.
But once again, Reese found a way to rewrite the record book.
Reese finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block, recording her 29th double-double of the season.
That moved Reese into sole possession of the WNBA single-season record for double-doubles, another historic milestone in what has already been a record-breaking year.
The night also marked the Atlanta debut of DeWanna Bonner, who saw her first minutes in a Dream uniform after signing a rest-of-season contract earlier in the week. Bonner finished with seven points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Hillmon added seven points, three rebounds and one assist.
With three players recording double-doubles, four starters reaching double figures and Bonner making her debut, Atlanta got contributions across the roster and closed out the night with another important win as the postseason approaches.
The Dream will now enter a two-week hiatus as the WNBA pauses for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, set for Sept. 4-13 in Berlin, Germany.
Atlanta will have representation on the international stage, Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese are representing Team USA as Isobel Borlase was selected to Australia’s final 12-player roster for the Opals. She joins Alanna Smith, Ezi Magbegor, Jade Melbourne, Sami Whitcomb and Steph Talbot among the six returning members of Australia’s bronze-medal team from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The break will give Atlanta time to reset before returning to action on Sept. 17, when the Dream host the Connecticut Sun.
With the postseason already secured, the final stretch will be all about rhythm, health and playoff positioning.
