Atlanta United and American Family Insurance are teaming up to make soccer more accessible for young players across metro Atlanta.
The organizations announced a new multi-location programming partnership supporting GA 100, the Atlanta United Community Fund initiative created to build 100 soccer pitches in underserved communities throughout Georgia.
Through the partnership, Atlanta United and American Family Insurance will provide programming at four metro Atlanta locations, including youth clinics, player and coach training, equipment donations and other resources designed to help grow the game at the grassroots level.
“Atlanta United is committed to developing youth soccer throughout Georgia as we continue expanding access to the sport we love,” President of Soccer, AMBSE Mauricio Culebro said. “We are proud to partner with American Family Insurance to make a positive impact on the game in metro Atlanta.”
The partnership officially kicked off July 29 when Atlanta United, American Family Insurance and Inter Atlanta FC unveiled four pitches at Toomer Elementary School in Northeast Atlanta.
The opening was celebrated with an 80-participant youth soccer tournament, giving young players an immediate opportunity to take advantage of the new facilities.
Three additional GA 100 openings are planned across metro Atlanta.
The Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA in Southwest Atlanta is scheduled to open Aug. 26, followed by Bay Creek Middle School in Grayson on Sept. 30 and Berkmar Middle School in Lilburn on Oct. 7.
American Family Insurance will provide programming support at each location.
For Atlanta United, the initiative goes beyond simply building soccer fields. It is about creating places where young players can learn the game, coaches can receive additional resources and communities can gather around the sport.
“We’ve been a proud partner of Atlanta United for 10 years, and we’re especially honored to join them now in supporting the GA 100 campaign,” American Family Insurance Chief Marketing Officer Sherina Smith said.
Smith added that the company’s sports partnerships focus on creating meaningful community connections and expanding opportunities for children to play, grow and dream big.
GA 100 has already delivered 24 new or refurbished pitches across Georgia, with 53 locations either identified, under development or completed.
Since 2020, the Atlanta United Community Fund has invested nearly $5 million into the initiative.
That investment is especially significant as soccer continues to grow throughout Georgia.
Atlanta has established itself as one of the country’s most passionate soccer markets, and programs such as GA 100 are helping ensure that enthusiasm reaches neighborhoods and young athletes who may not otherwise have easy access to quality places to play.
The partnership also strengthens a decade-long relationship between Atlanta United and American Family Insurance. The company is currently in its 10th consecutive season as the official kit sponsor of Atlanta United’s First Team.
While Atlanta United continues building momentum on the field, the club is also making an impact beyond it.
The Five Stripes enter this weekend riding a three-match winning streak and will return to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 29, for a rivalry matchup against Charlotte FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
For Atlanta United, growing the game isn’t only about what happens inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It’s also about making sure the next generation has a field of its own.
