COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — The Atlanta Dream bounced back in impressive fashion Monday night, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 101-92 at Gateway Center Arena behind another dominant performance from Angel Reese and a balanced offensive attack.
Atlanta had six players score in double figures and controlled the paint throughout the night, finishing with 54 points inside while adding 21 points from its bench. The victory improved the Dream’s starting lineup of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon, and Angel Reese to 14-6 this season.
Angel Reese continued her All-Star campaign with another outstanding performance, recording her WNBA-leading 16th double-double of the season with 23 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Reese’s physical presence on both ends of the floor helped Atlanta establish the tone early and maintain control throughout the contest.
Allisha Gray added 20 points, recording her 11th game of the season with at least 20 points, while also contributing two assists and two steals.
Jordin Canada continued climbing the Atlanta Dream record books, finishing with 16 points and nine assists. Her nine assists give her 177 on the season, the second-most assists in a single season in franchise history through 24 games. Canada also controlled the tempo offensively while helping Atlanta’s offense generate quality looks throughout the night.
Rhyne Howard contributed another all-around effort with 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Naz Hillmon added 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Atlanta also received valuable production from its bench. Isobel Borlase scored 10 points, while rookie Madina Okot continued her strong play with nine points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
The Dream’s offensive balance proved to be the difference as all five starters reached double figures. Atlanta consistently attacked the basket, finishing with 54 points in the paint, while the bench chipped in 21 points to help secure the win.
The victory also improved Atlanta’s all-time record against Los Angeles to 26-20 overall and 15-8 at home.
With another double-double, Reese continues to lead the WNBA in the category, while Gray and Canada added to their growing list of milestones this season as Atlanta returned to the win column.
The Dream will now hit the road to face the Toronto Tempo on Friday, July 17, before returning home to host the Chicago Sky on Sunday, July 19, at Gateway Center Arena.
