Falcons Lock Down Drake London for the Long Haul

The Atlanta Falcons are making sure one of their cornerstone players remains in Atlanta for years to come.

The organization announced Wednesday that it has signed wide receiver Drake London to a four-year contract extension, solidifying the future of one of the NFL’s rising stars and giving quarterback Michael Penix Jr. a familiar and reliable target moving forward.

Since being selected eighth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of USC, London has steadily established himself as one of the league’s most productive young receivers. Through four seasons, he has recorded 309 receptions for 3,961 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns while appearing in 62 games with 60 starts.

At just 25 years old, London already ranks ninth in franchise history in receptions and has tied Falcons legends Julio Jones and Andre Rison for the most 150-yard receiving games by a player during his first four seasons with the franchise.

The extension comes after another productive 2025 campaign. Despite missing five games due to injury, London hauled in 68 receptions for 919 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 76.6 receiving yards per game.

His biggest stretch came during Weeks 9 and 10 when he scored four touchdowns in two games, matching Calvin Ridley for the most receiving touchdowns by a Falcons wide receiver over a two-game span since 2020.

Week 9 proved especially memorable. London exploded for nine catches, 118 yards, and three touchdowns, recording the first three-touchdown game of his career and becoming the first Falcon receiver to score three receiving touchdowns in a road game since 1993.

While his 2025 season was impressive, London’s breakout campaign came in 2024.

He started all 17 games and posted career highs across the board with 100 receptions, 1,271 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. He became the first player in franchise history to record at least 65 receptions in each of his first three NFL seasons and broke Calvin Ridley’s franchise record for most receptions by a player in his first three years with 241.

London also joined elite company that season, becoming one of only four NFL players to finish with at least 100 receptions, 1,200 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns alongside Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

His consistency has been evident since day one.

As a rookie in 2022, London set a Falcons rookie record with 72 receptions while totaling 866 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He followed that performance with 69 receptions and 905 yards in 2023 before elevating his game into the upper tier of NFL receivers over the last two seasons.

At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, London has become one of the league’s premier contested-catch receivers while continuing to develop into a complete offensive weapon.

For the Falcons, this extension is about more than rewarding past production. It is an investment in the future.

With Michael Penix Jr. entering his second season as the franchise quarterback and a talented young core continuing to develop around him, Atlanta has ensured that one of its most important offensive playmakers will remain a centerpiece of the offense for years to come.

The Falcons believe they have their quarterback of the future. Now they have made sure he will continue throwing to his favorite target.
