Hawks Pull Away Late to Defeat Nets 115–104 in Atlanta

The Atlanta Hawks closed out the weekend with a strong fourth-quarter surge, defeating the Brooklyn Nets 115–104 on Sunday night at State Farm Arena in front of a sellout crowd of 17,121.

After three tightly contested quarters featuring 14 ties and 10 lead changes, Atlanta took control down the stretch, outscoring Brooklyn 26–17 in the final period to secure the win and improve to 28–31 on the season.

Johnson Leads Balanced Hawks Attack

Forward Jalen Johnson delivered a standout performance, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds while anchoring Atlanta’s frontcourt on both ends. Center Onyeka Okongwu added 13 points and 11 boards, giving the Hawks a dominant presence on the glass.

The backcourt also contributed heavily. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 17 points and dished six assists, while CJ McCollum chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds. Atlanta’s balanced scoring saw seven players record at least seven points.

Off the bench, Jock Landale provided an immediate spark with 17 points on efficient shooting, helping stabilize the offense during key stretches.

Fast Breaks and Defense Seal It

Atlanta’s transition game proved decisive. The Hawks outscored Brooklyn 21–5 in fast-break points, repeatedly turning defensive stops into easy scoring opportunities. While both teams scored 48 points in the paint, Atlanta’s ability to push tempo created separation late.

Brooklyn struggled to generate offense in the fourth quarter, shooting just 27 percent in the final frame. The Nets were held to only 17 points after scoring 87 through three quarters.

Porter Jr. Paces Nets

Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 18 points, while Nic Claxton added 15 points and eight rebounds. Despite solid interior play earlier in the game, the Nets could not match Atlanta’s late execution.

Brooklyn fell to 15–41 with the loss.

Game Flow

Atlanta opened with a narrow 32–30 first-quarter edge and carried a 60–56 lead into halftime. The Nets briefly surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 31–29 to keep the contest within reach heading into the final period.

But once the fourth began, Atlanta’s defense tightened and the offense found rhythm, turning a close game into a comfortable finish.

Next Up: Reunion With Trae Young

Next up is a highly anticipated matchup with the Washington Wizards on Feb. 24 — notable because it marks Atlanta’s first meeting with Trae Young since his move to Washington. The two sides will face off again Feb. 26 as the Hawks look to build momentum during a crucial stretch of the season.

With playoff positioning still in flux, Atlanta will need every win it can get — and this mini-series against Young’s new squad could carry major implications down the stretch.
