The Atlanta Dream announced today that the team has signed guard Kamiah Smalls to a seven-day contract.
Smalls, a 5-foot-10 guard out of James Madison University, was originally drafted 28th overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2020 WNBA Draft. She’s appeared in 10 career WNBA games with Indiana and Minnesota, averaging 3.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per contest.
The Philadelphia native joins the Dream with a wealth of international experience. Most recently, she turned in a strong season with Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy’s Serie A1 and the EuroLeague. In 30 Italian league games, Smalls averaged 9.8 points while shooting 63.5% from inside the arc and 41.7% from deep. In 10 EuroLeague outings, she added 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists on 57.9% shooting inside the arc. Her play earned her Eurobasket.com All-Italian League Honorable Mention and a spot on the All-Imports Team, while helping Venezia to a Supercup championship and a trip to the league finals.
Before her time in Italy, Smalls spent two seasons with Villeneuve d’Ascq in France, where she played a key role in capturing the 2024 French LFB championship. She is currently on the roster of Galatasaray Çağdaş Factoring Istanbul in Turkey’s KBSL.
Smalls and the Dream will be back in action tonight at Gateway Center Arena, where they host the Phoenix Mercury. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
