Dream Light It Up from Deep, Down Sky 93-80 to Earn 10th Win of the Season

The Atlanta Dream defeated the Chicago Sky 93-80 on Sunday afternoon, improving to 10-4 on the season and extending their dominance with a complete team performance at Gateway Center Arena. The win pushed Atlanta to 5-2 with the starting lineup of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones, and Brittney Griner, and improved the franchise’s all-time record against Chicago to 28-37 overall, including 16-19 at home.

Atlanta’s tenth win of the season came in just 14 games—tying the franchise record set in 2014 for the fewest games needed to reach double digits in the win column. That fast start was fueled by a blend of veteran leadership, strong shooting, and key bench contributions.

Rhyne Howard led the Dream with 22 points, adding three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. She opened the game with a three-pointer and stayed aggressive throughout, helping Atlanta stay composed during a third-quarter surge from Chicago. Allisha Gray added 19 points and passed Renee Montgomery for fourth all-time in franchise history for three-pointers made, thanks to her fourth triple of the game.

Rookie guard Te-Hina Paopao had a breakout performance, knocking down a career-high five three-pointers and matching her career-high in points with 16 for the third time this season. Her timely buckets were crucial in the fourth quarter as the Dream pulled away from a tied game. Alongside her, Naz Hillmon added 12 points off the bench and posted a team-best +19 plus-minus, continuing Atlanta’s trend of strong bench production.

Brionna Jones notched her seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, continuing to build her case for All-Star consideration as she averages a double-double nearly every other game. Jones was a steady force in the paint and came up big in key stretches to stop Chicago’s runs.

The Dream had five players in double figures—Howard (22), Gray (19), Paopao (16), Jones (13), and Hillmon (12)—and shot a blazing 15-for-30 from beyond the arc, while limiting the Sky to just 25% from long range.

After a strong start that saw the Dream shoot 52.9% in the first quarter, Atlanta held off several Chicago pushes, including a third-quarter tie at 69. But in the fourth, Atlanta caught fire. Gray, Paopao, and Howard each knocked down deep threes to ignite a 24-11 closing run that sealed the 13-point victory, the Dream’s largest lead of the night.

Atlanta is now 10-1 when Allisha Gray scores 15 or more points—a testament to her impact on both ends of the floor.

Next up, the Dream hit the road to face the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, June 24.
