On Friday, the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm celebrated the grand opening of their newest Good Neighbor Club inside the Pittman Park Recreation Center, located in Atlanta’s historic Pittsburgh neighborhood. Just steps away from the BeltLine Southside Trail, the newly renovated space becomes the 12th Good Neighbor Club launched by the longtime partners—furthering their commitment to empowering local youth.
This initiative marks a homecoming for the Hawks, as Pittman Park was the first recreation center the organization renovated over a decade ago. Now, the space has been transformed again into a modern Teen Center designed to inspire the next generation with modular furniture, vibrant décor, updated technology including new TVs and gaming consoles, and areas for creative and educational programming.
“The Hawks and State Farm have always stepped up for us,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “This is a full circle moment…reminding us that they don’t just play in Atlanta—they are Atlanta.”
Joining Mayor Dickens at the unveiling were several key community leaders, including Hawks’ Executive Vice President of External Affairs David Lee, Hawks two-way player Daeqwon Plowden, State Farm VP of Operations Don Bright, City Council member Antonio Lewis, and Atlanta’s Parks and Rec Commissioner Justin Cutler.
A Community-Driven Space for Growth
The decision to bring the latest Good Neighbor Club to Pittman Park was both strategic and symbolic. With its deep-rooted connection to the community, the center plays a critical role in youth development—serving over 100 children in after-school programs and coaching 1,000+ kids in athletics each year. Recreation leaders Samuel Cain and Tanisha Parker—both alumni of the center—highlight its generational impact, with Parker’s daughter now participating in its programs.
“We are committed to creating a safe, inspiring environment where teens can grow, develop skills, and build meaningful connections,” said Jon Babul, Hawks Vice President of Community Impact and Basketball Programs. “This partnership with State Farm is a major step forward in that mission.”
Interactive Experiences with Lasting Impact
The launch event featured a range of interactive sessions where teens explored personal branding, digital content creation, and custom merchandising—applying what they learned by designing t-shirts and bucket hats. A hands-on content creation workshop encouraged youth to find their voice through media. The experience was made even more memorable with appearances from Harry the Hawk, the ATL Dancers, and Flight Crew, along with giveaways and games.
“At State Farm, we believe in the power of community and the importance of investing in our youth,” said Don Bright. “This Good Neighbor Club is another step in helping teens grow, dream, and succeed.”
