DULUTH, Ga. — The Atlanta Vibe (18-8) continued their red-hot run on Saturday evening, defeating the Grand Rapids Rise (11-15) in a thrilling five-set battle at Gas South Arena. The victory marked Atlanta’s 12th consecutive win, solidifying their spot among the league’s top contenders.
Middle blocker Khori Louis anchored the Vibe’s offense with a standout performance, posting a .478 hitting percentage and tallying 13 kills. Outside hitters Leah Edmond and Pia Timmer each added 14 kills, with Timmer contributing a strong .293 hitting efficiency in the five-set contest.
Defensively, libero Morgan Hentz was a force, leading the team with 23 digs. She was joined by three teammates in double-digit digs: setter Marlie Monserez (17), opposite hitter Aiko Jones (14), and Edmond (13). Both squads showed relentless defensive effort, with Grand Rapids collecting 103 digs to Atlanta’s 102.
Atlanta took control early, capturing the first two sets 25-23 and 25-22. However, the Rise refused to go quietly, bouncing back to claim the next two sets 25-21 and 25-23, forcing a decisive fifth frame. In the end, the Vibe regained their composure and closed out the match with a commanding 15-13 win.
The Vibe now hit the road, traveling to face Indy Ignite on Thursday, May 1st. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET as Atlanta looks to keep its winning streak alive.
