The Atlanta Vibe (10-8) secured a thrilling five-set victory over the San Diego Mojo (6-11) on Saturday night at Gas South Arena, fueled by a record-setting performance from multiple players. The Vibe hit .213 as a team and showcased strong offensive and defensive efforts to claim the hard-fought win.
Offensive Firepower Leads the Way
Outside hitter Pia Timmer led the charge with a season-high 17 kills, playing a key role in Atlanta’s attack. Leah Edmond delivered a standout performance as well, notching a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. Middle blocker Khori Louis was another major contributor, tallying 14 kills on 25 attempts to bolster the Vibe’s offense.
Defensive Strength and Net Presence
Atlanta’s defense proved crucial in the victory, with the team totaling 73 digs and 12 blocks. Opposite hitter Aiko Jones set a season-high with five blocks while also adding two service aces. Middle blocker McKenna Vicini followed closely behind with four blocks, helping to keep the Mojo’s attack in check.
Passing and Setting Precision
The Vibe outperformed the Mojo in serve-and-pass efficiency, passing at a 28% perfect rate compared to San Diego’s 18%. Setter Marlie Monserez orchestrated the offense with an impressive 54 assists while also leading the team with 21 digs, demonstrating her all-around impact on the match.
