Trae Young Named to Emirates NBA Cup All-Tournament Team

The NBA announced today that Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has been named to the Emirates NBA Cup All-Tournament Team. Selected by a media panel, Young joins Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City), Damian Lillard (Milwaukee), and Alperen Şengün (Houston) on the prestigious list.

Young’s performance during the Hawks’ run to the Emirates NBA Cup East Semifinal was nothing short of stellar. Over five games (all starts), the seventh-year guard averaged 24.2 points, 10.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 36.3 minutes per game. He led all players in assists during NBA Cup play and was the only player to average at least 20.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 1.0 steal.

Young delivered consistent excellence, recording 20-or-more points and 10-or-more assists in each of his final four NBA Cup games. His standout performance came in the semifinal against the eventual champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, on Dec. 14, where he posted 35 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds in 40 minutes.

The three-time NBA All-Star continues to make history, leading the NBA this season in 30-point, 10-assist games (six) and bringing his career total to 83. He is now just one game shy of tying Russell Westbrook (84) for the fourth-most 30+ point, 10+ assist games in NBA history.

Through 26 games this season, Young has dished out an NBA-best 314 total assists and is averaging 12.1 assists per game. He is on track to lead the league in total assists for the third time in his career and could become the first player since John Stockton (1994-95) to average at least 12.0 assists per game in a season.

Young’s leadership has propelled Atlanta to a strong run, with the Hawks winning seven of their last nine games—the most victories by any Eastern Conference team since Nov. 27. During this stretch, Atlanta secured wins against the NBA-leading Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), the Los Angeles Lakers (Dec. 6), and key road victories over the Milwaukee Bucks (Dec. 4) and New York Knicks (Dec. 11, in the NBA Cup Quarterfinal).

With Young at the helm, the Hawks continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
