The all-time series between Atlanta and Miami has been tightly contested. Atlanta United holds a 6-5-4 record against Miami across MLS regular season and postseason play. Atlanta has been particularly strong at home with a 5-1-2 record, compared to a challenging 1-4-2 mark on the road. In this playoff series, Miami claimed the opener at Chase Stadium on October 25, but Atlanta responded with a 2-1 victory in Game 2 on November 2, with goals from Derrick Williams and Xande Silva.
Atlanta’s fan support has been exceptional this postseason, with a crowd of 68,455 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on November 2 marking the fifth-largest playoff attendance in MLS history. Atlanta United has established a dominant home playoff record of 7-1-1, including an impressive 5-0-1 record in full-venue playoff matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where they’ve outscored opponents 11-2.
Game 3 will be the club’s 17th MLS postseason match, where Atlanta United holds an 8-6-2 all-time playoff record. The team has been nearly unbeatable at home (7-1-1) but has struggled to find the same success on the road (1-5-1).
Several players have made notable contributions throughout the postseason. Pedro Amador notched his third playoff assist in Game 2, bringing his season total to seven. Amador has now recorded an assist in four consecutive matches and leads MLS in primary assists per 90 minutes with an impressive rate of .61 (minimum 1,000 minutes).
Goalkeeper Brad Guzan has also been a standout performer, leading all goalkeepers in the 2024 playoffs with 14 saves, including a club playoff record of eight saves in Game 1. Meanwhile, Alexey Miranchuk is tied for third in MLS for chances created per 90 minutes this postseason, with an average of 4.0.
As Atlanta United heads into this pivotal Game 3, fans can expect a hard-fought match with both teams vying to secure their place in the next round.
