The Atlanta Gladiators announced today the acquisition of forward Randy Hernandez from the Orlando Solar Bears, in exchange for future considerations. The addition of Hernandez brings new talent and experience to the Gladiators as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Hernandez, 25, enters the professional arena after a notable collegiate career spanning 111 games with Robert Morris University and Canisius College. Over his college career, Hernandez racked up an impressive 72 points, consisting of 29 goals and 43 assists. During his time at Canisius, he had the opportunity to play alongside current Gladiator Brenden Datema for two seasons, giving the pair familiarity that could strengthen Atlanta’s on-ice chemistry.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Hernandez developed his skills in junior hockey with the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Across two seasons with the Bandits, he achieved an outstanding 120 points (52 goals, 68 assists), helping lead the team to an AJHL Championship title in 2018-19. His performance with the Bandits not only showcased his scoring ability but also highlighted his skill in high-pressure situations.
As the Gladiators welcome Hernandez, fans can look forward to seeing his offensive talent and dynamic play style contribute to the team’s pursuit of success this season.
The Atlanta Gladiators are preparing for a tough four-game road trip, kicking off with a matchup against the Savannah Ghost Pirates on Saturday, November 2. The action continues the following day, November 3, as the Gladiators face off against the South Carolina Stingrays. They’ll then head to Orlando to challenge the Solar Bears on November 6, before wrapping up the trip with a showdown against the Jacksonville Icemen on November 8.
Following the road stretch, the Gladiators return to Gas South Arena on November 10 to host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Back on home ice, the team looks forward to reuniting with their fans and defending their turf.
