With Trae Young at the helm, the Hawks are soaring into the play-in tournament for the third straight year. Despite missing 28 contests this season, Young finished with the eighth-most assists in the league with 583 dimes.
In his most recent outing on 4/14 at Indiana, 25-year-old guard Trae Young (3,868) passed Doc Rivers (3,866) for the most assists all-time in Hawks franchise history. The Oklahoma product ranked eighth in the NBA His ability to distribute and create for his teammates has been instrumental to Atlanta’s success.
Dejounte Murray finished the 2023-24 regular season averaging a career-best 22.5 points (25th in the NBA), in addition to 6.4 assists (second-highest in a single season in his career), 5.3 rebounds and 1.42 steals in 35.7 minutes (.459 FG%, .363 3FG%, .794 FT%). He is the only player in the East, and one of only two players in the NBA this season, to finish with at least 1,753 points, 502 assists and 111 steals , joining Denver’s Nikola Jokic
Murray knocked down a career-high 201 threes this season and gives Atlanta another perimeter threat who can also slash to the rim, marking the seventh-most in a single season in franchise history and tied for the 22nd-most in the league this season. He owns 334 three-pointers in his Hawks career, the 15th-most in club history.
Bogdan Bogdanovic surpassed 200 threes for the first time and broke the franchise single-season record in the process. In his seventh NBA season, the Serbian sharpshooter became the ninth-fastest player in league history to hit 1,000 career threes.
Atlanta is here to prove the haters wrong. These birds of prey are ready to soar into the playoffs and make some noise. Murray brings the defensive clamps that can shut down even the best perimeter players. With seasoned vets like Bogdan Bogdanovic spacing the floor and big man Clint Capela cleaning the glass, the Hawks have all the pieces in place. So get your popcorn ready as the Hawks look to cook up an upset, they are ascending, and not backing down from the fight. Chicago better be ready, because the Hawks are about to bring it.
