Dream defeat Sky 78-67

The Atlanta Dream cracked a three-game losing streak with an electrifying 78-67 win against the Chicago Sky on Friday night at Gateway Center Arena.

It was a slow start in the first quarter with the Dream trailing Chicago by 8 points. Late in in the 2nd quarter Atlanta tied the score 31-31, shortly afterwards the Sky pulled away , but with seconds remaining the score was tied again 35-35. Cheyenne Parker lifted the team to 2 point lead.  With the score tied 37-37. D-Rob attacked the basket to put Atlanta ahead 37-39 at the half.

Early in 3rd quarter the score was tied 41-41, Ari McDonald clutch 3 to put the score at 45-50 , Chicago step up their defense and with the fast paced movement of the ball Atlanta trailed by 1 point.

Midway through the 4th Alisha Gray was injured, and helped off the court. It was Cheyenne Parker who landed shots to put the team ahead by 3 points. D rob pulled up from beyond the arc for a 3-pointer, and forced the Sky to trail by 6 points.  Alisha was able to return to the game in the final minutes but it was the efforts of Cheyenne Parker and D-Rob that left Chicago defense scrambling and a rally in the closing minutes fell short as the Dream captured a victory at home.

Without Atlanta’s leading scorer Rhyne Howard due to a nose injury, Cheyenne Parker led the team in scoring a career-high 29 points, Parker was 10 of 20 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free-throw line to top her previous scoring best of 25 points set earlier this season. She also had seven rebounds.

Allisha Gray added 20 points, while Danielle Robinson dropped 10 points and seven assists to round off the scoring efforts for Atlanta (16-16).
