Atlanta Dream guard Aari McDonald has been diagnosed with a torn labrum, which she sustained during the Dream’s game against the Las Vegas Aces on Friday, June 2. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan this week confirmed the diagnosis.
McDonald’s estimated timeline to return to the court is 3-4 weeks, updates will be provided as necessary.
The Dream drafted McDonald with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft out of Arizona. She saw a breakout year in her second season in the WNBA in 2022, averaging 11.1 points, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game. In her rookie season, McDonald received WNBA and Associated Press All-Rookie Team honors after leading all first-year players in the league with 59 assists and 25 total steals.
