Whew. It was a tough night for the Atlanta Dream in Indiana, as they fell to the Fever 99-82 in the final game of their regular season series. The loss moves the Dream to 7-5 on the season and narrows their all-time record against Indiana to 35-33. On the road, the series now sits at 14-21. The two teams officially split their regular season series, with the record split at 2-2.
But let’s be clear—Jordin Canada was the moment.
The Dream guard was unstoppable through three quarters, going off for a career-high 30 points—all before the final buzzer even hit the fourth. Canada knocked down six three-pointers, another personal best, going 6-of-11 from deep and showing off just how dangerous she is from beyond the arc. Add in 8 assists, and it’s safe to say Jordin put the team on her back in this one.
She came out the gate hot, scoring five quick points to open the game, including a deep three that set the tone early. Rhyne Howard followed her lead with a triple of her own, and with contributions from Brionna Jones and Allisha Gray, the Dream jumped out to a fast 12-2 lead. Canada capped off the first quarter with another three, already in double figures with 10 points. Atlanta led 23-21 after one.
Second quarter? Same energy. Canada was on fire—drilling four more threes and dropping 26 points by halftime. She was responsible for nearly 58% of Atlanta’s offense in the first half, which ended with the Dream holding a 45-40 lead.
After the break, Brionna Jones opened the third with a reverse layup, and Rhyne Howard got rolling with back-to-back triples, pushing the lead and hitting double digits. Gray added a much-needed three, but Indiana wasn’t going away. The Fever closed the third on a 10-0 run, flipping the momentum and putting Atlanta behind 69-65 heading into the fourth.
Canada added two more free throws to reach her 30-point mark before sitting the final stretch.
In the fourth, Brittney Griner opened with a smooth turnaround jumper off yet another Canada assist. Maya Caldwell and Nia Coffey provided a few buckets, with Coffey scoring six of her seven points in the closing minutes. But it wasn’t enough to stop Indiana’s hot hand—the Fever shot 55.6% in the final quarter and closed the game on a 12-2 run.
Despite the loss, there were bright spots. Rhyne Howard finished with 14 points (4-of-8 from three), Brittney Griner added 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, and Canada’s leadership, poise, and offensive firepower were on full display.
Up next, the Dream hit the road again for a tough matchup against the New York Liberty, followed by a battle with the Chicago Sky on Wednesday, July 16. And just a heads up, WNBA fans—the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game is officially headed to Indianapolis on July 19th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Mark your calendars!
For now, the Dream will look to regroup, refocus, and ride the momentum of Canada’s breakout as they continue to push through the second half of the season.
Let’s bounce back, ATL!
