Hawks Fall to Magic 114-108 in First Game After All-Star Break

After a week-long break for All-Star festivities, the Atlanta Hawks returned to action at the award-winning State Farm Arena, facing off against the Orlando Magic. Despite a strong defensive effort and standout individual performances, the Hawks came up short, dropping a 114-108 loss to their division rivals.

Hawks Dominate the Glass but Fall Short

Atlanta controlled the offensive boards, pulling down 15 offensive rebounds—marking the 15th time this season the team has grabbed 15 or more in a game. The Hawks, who average 11.9 offensive rebounds per contest (tied for seventh-highest in the NBA), continued to show their ability to create second-chance opportunities.

Leading the effort was rookie Zaccharie Risacher, who posted his first career double-double, finishing with 11 points (3-5 3PT) and a career-high 12 rebounds. The 18-year-old also contributed a block and a steal in just 23 minutes of action. Five of his 12 rebounds came on the offensive glass, tying his career-high for offensive boards.

Dyson Daniels Extends Steal Streak

Dyson Daniels continued his defensive dominance, registering three steals to bring his season total to 152—the most in a single NBA season since 2018-19. The Australian guard has now recorded at least one steal in 27 straight games, tying Jason Terry (2004) for the longest steal streak by a Hawk in the past 20 years. Daniels also notched his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 34 minutes. With his third assist of the night, Daniels also reached a career milestone, recording his 500th career assist.

Trae Young Shines with 38-Point Performance

Four-time All-Star Trae Young led the Hawks offensively, pouring in a game-high 38 points to go along with six assists, three rebounds, and one steal. It marked his 159th career game with 30 or more points, the seventh-most such performances in the NBA since he entered the league in 2018.

Newcomer Caris LeVert provided a spark off the bench, tallying 13 points, four rebounds, and two steals in 28 minutes. Since joining the Hawks on February 8, the veteran wing has been a steady contributor, averaging 15.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 51.2% from the field.

Despite the loss, the Hawks showed flashes of promise, particularly on the defensive end and on the boards. They will look to regroup and get back in the win column when they take on the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, at home February 23. Tip-off is at 6:00 PM.
