Hawks capture first-ever Tournament Night win against Pistons

Atlanta will return to State Farm Arena tonight Wednesday Nov.15 to take on the New York Knicks the second time this season, including the second time at home.

About Last Night: The Hawks, are coming off a first-ever Tournament Night 126-120 win, against Detroit on Tuesday, Nov.14 , making it their second away/home back-to-back of the season.

Last night, the Atlanta Hawks added Ice Trae to the injury report due to personal reasons. It was revealed on social media that Young welcomed the birth of his second child yesterday.

Without Trae, Dejounte Murray led the team in scoring a game-high 32 points on 11-21 shooting from the floor, including a career-high nine made free throws (second time in career going a perfect 9-9 from the stripe), a team-high 10 assists, five rebounds and a game-high tying three steals in 37 minutes. History was made as Murray became the first player in the NBA this season to tally at least 30 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals in a single game and became just the third Hawk in franchise histoy to do so, joining Trae Young (2x) and Brevin Knight. It marked the third such game of Murray’s career, tied for the ninth-most such games in the NBA amongst all active players.

Saddiq Bey did not disappoint in his first game back in Detroit wearing a Hawks jersey he netted 19 points, four rebounds, two assists.

Bogdan Bogdanovic added 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, while De’Andre Hunter collected his 3,000th career points, with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal in 35 minutes.

Atlanta is 1-0 this season on the second night of a road/home back-to-back (127-113 win vs. Minnesota, 10/30/23). The team is averaging 120.9 points, the fourth-most points per game in the NBA this season and the most points per game through the first 10 games of any season in franchise history (previously 117.9 ppg in 1973).

For those who are wondering, the answer is  presumably YES! Trae Young is no longer on the injury list for tonight’s matchup against the Knicks.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 tonight
