On Wednesday night behind Diego de la Torre serving as Atlanta United’s head coach, as Gonzalo Pineda served a one match suspension due to yellow card accumulation, Atlanta United fell 2-1 to FC Cincinnati at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Edwin Mosquera scored his first professional goal 10 minutes into the match, but Cincinnati scored a pair of late goals to earn the three points.
“Everyone’s chasing them, including us. But we need to reflect and get ready to go Saturday.” said goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
“We were playing against the first-place team in the League, and they were chasing and competing. I have to give credit to Cincinnati, because they were a very good team, but no, I don’t think it happened because of fitness levels.” said Atlanta United Head Coach Diego de la Torre.
Atlanta United (11-8-8, 41 points) will travel to face FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8:30 p.m. The team will return home to face Inter Miami CF (Sept. 16).
