This wasn’t the rematch that fans thought it would be after the Skyhawks defeated the Lakeland Magic 124-96 in Saturday’s first game of the regular season.

College Park led by as much as 36 points in Saturday’s matchup.

“We didn’t respect our opponent. 28 points win in the previous game, thinking that we would just come out and repeat that,” said Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey. “We just got outworked tonight.”

The Skyhawks trailed by as much as 15 in the first quarter and never had the lead. While College Park had a few runs late in the third quarter, the momentum never shifted in their favor. The Lakeland Magic controlled the whole game. The Skyhawks gave up two 40-point quarters.

“We have to have a better mindset going into every game. It’s got to be a collective unit. We need to do it together,” said Gansey.

The Skyhawks will head to Wisconsin for their next matchup against the Herd in a two-game series at Oshkosh Arena.
