Hawks Notched First Preseason Win

It’s been awhile since we seen Ice Trae Young and big man John Collins suited in a Hawks uniform, nine months exactly but the Atlanta Hawks finally returned to action on Friday at State Farm Arena for a thrilling back and forth preseason opener against the Orlando Magic. In the end the Hawks lost to the Magic 116-112 in their first of four preseason matchups without fans.

There was a lot of good, a lot of bad, a lot of stuff that we will have on film that we can start working on. It’s just good to get the first one out the way.” said Coach Lloyd Pierce at the post game presser.

Up Next: Atlanta head on the road to face Memphis for two games against the Grizzlies before opening the season in Chicago, Wednesday, December 23rd.

Be On the Lookout:  Monday, December 21st at 6 pm, marks the day John Collins officially becomes a restricted free agent. The Atlanta Hawks have just one week to decide whether or not they’ll extend Collins contract. Collins has been very vocal about wanting to stay in Atlanta and thinks he has earned a max extension. What the future holds for Collins and the Hawks is still up in the air. I hope the idea of building a team around Young and Collins that will finally have a chance to secure a playoff berth is in the cards.

Stay tuned for further updates and coverage of the Atlanta Hawks.
