ATLANTA – The Atlanta Hawks fell to the defending NBA champions Saturday night. The Toronto Raptors defeated the Hawks 119-116.
It was a competitive game from start to finish. The game came down to the Hawks needing a three.
Young recorded the second triple-double of his career with 30 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Atlanta isn’t letting this slump get them down.
“I think every team will go through a drought. You have to compete, you have to stay together. When you go on a five-game winning streak it balances out and that’s what happens over 82 games,” said Hawks head coach, Lloyd Pierce.
De’Andre Hunter hit a career-high six three-pointers and recorded his eighth straight game scoring in double figures.
He knocked down 26 points in 34 minutes. The rookie played more minutes than he’s used to playing.
Hunter has been able to contribute to the team by taking some pressure off of Young.
“I’ve been another scoring option, the guy that can help on defense and be aggressive on the offensive end,” said Hunter.
Over the last three games, Hunter has averaged 23.7 points and 4.7 rebounds.
The Hawks enter Monday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves looking to end their six-game losing streak.
