FIFA executive, Chuck Blazer, has been banned from football-related activities for life by FIFA’s Ethics Committee for his involvement in widespread corruption. FIFA’s ethics panel made its ruling using evidence from the American federal case which has plunged FIFA and international football into crisis. Blazer pleaded guilty to 10 counts including racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and income tax evasion. Blazer served on FIFA’s executive panel for 16 years until 2013. As a side note, Blazer’s life story could be made into a Hollywood film as the rights to an upcoming book on his football administration career were bought last month. Will have to keep an eye out for that one.
