The Atlanta Dream put on an offensive clinic Friday night, storming past the Phoenix Mercury 95-72 at Gateway Center Arena. With the win, Atlanta moved to 17-11 on the season and improved its all-time record against the Mercury to 15-29 overall, including 12-11 at home.
The Dream rolled out a starting lineup of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Maya Caldwell, Naz Hillmon, and Brionna Jones — and the group made an immediate impact, improving to 1-0 when starting together.
Atlanta came out blazing in the opening quarter, dropping 34 points — their highest-scoring quarter of the 2025 season. The team tied a franchise record with eight made three-pointers in the period, with Allisha Gray leading the charge. Gray lit up the scoreboard with 14 first-quarter points on 4-of-4 from deep. Maya Caldwell matched the hot hand, also going perfect from long range with four triples of her own.
Gray carried that momentum all night, finishing with a game-high 26 points. She knocked down a career-best seven three-pointers on a scorching 7-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc, marking her seventh game of the season with at least 25 points.
Jordin Canada ran the show with precision, dishing out a season-high 11 assists to go with eight points, four rebounds, and a team-best +32 in plus-minus. Naz Hillmon continued her breakout stretch, building on her career night earlier in the week with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Starting in place of Brittney Griner, Hillmon logged her 13th double-digit scoring performance this season and led the team in rebounding for the second straight game.
Brionna Jones reached a career milestone, surpassing 1,000 field goals with her first basket of the night. She rounded out the evening with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three blocks — her 19th double-figure scoring effort of the year. Caldwell capped off her night with a season-high 14 points and tied a career-high with seven boards, shooting 4-of-4 from three in that blistering first quarter.
By halftime, the Dream had set a new season high for points in a half with 58, building a 16-point cushion. They broke the game wide open in the third, outscoring Phoenix 26-8 while holding the Mercury to a season-low in any quarter on 13.3% shooting. Gray’s sixth and seventh three-pointers highlighted the period as Atlanta took an 84-50 lead into the fourth.
Atlanta cruised from there, getting contributions across the board and closing out the night with four players in double figures.
The Dream’s electric performance — combining record shooting, stifling defense, and milestone moments — not only secured another key win but also sent a clear message: this team is heating up at just the right time.
Next Up: Atlanta will look to keep the momentum going tomorrow at home when they take on the Washington Mystics. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at State Farm Arena.
