Falcons Sign Safety Henry Black, Release Wide Receiver Makai Polk

The Atlanta Falcons have added veteran depth to their secondary, announcing the signing of safety Henry Black. To make room on the roster, the team has released wide receiver Makai Polk.

Black, a Shreveport, La., native, originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers following the 2020 NFL Draft out of Baylor. Since then, he’s built a career defined by versatility and consistency, appearing in 25 games and recording 27 defensive tackles (20 solo), 19 special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed, and one interception.

Over the years, Black has gained experience across several NFL rosters, including stints with the Packers (2020–21), New York Giants (2022), Falcons (2022), Indianapolis Colts (2022–23), and Pittsburgh Steelers (2023). Most recently, he showcased his skills in the UFL with the San Antonio Brahmas during the 2024 season.

Before his professional career, Black was a standout at Baylor, where he played in 52 games from 2015 to 2019. During his collegiate career, he tallied 77 tackles (35 solo), four passes defensed, two interceptions, two sacks, and two forced fumbles, proving to be a reliable presence in the Bears’ secondary.

With his return to Atlanta, Black brings veteran experience and special teams value as the Falcons continue to shape their roster heading into the upcoming season.
