Dream Snap Lynx’s Home Streak as Griner Drops 22 in 90-86 Win

The Atlanta Dream handed the Minnesota Lynx their first home loss of the regular season on Sunday night, pulling out a 90-86 victory at Target Center. With the win, Atlanta improved to 15-10 on the season, tying its 2024 win total in just 25 games. The Dream also improved their all-time record against Minnesota to 13-32, including 6-17 on the road.

The starting lineup of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Maya Caldwell, Brionna Jones, and Brittney Griner moved to 3-2 this season, proving to be one of the team’s most effective combinations. Griner led the way with a new season-high 22 points, including 17 in the first half—her highest scoring half of the year. She shot 6-of-8 before the break and finished with five rebounds, setting the tone early against a Minnesota squad that hadn’t lost at home since September 2024.

Atlanta’s defense was a difference-maker, forcing the Lynx into difficult looks and recording a season-high 12 steals. Brionna Jones made history of her own, surpassing 1,200 career rebounds with her third board of the night. She added 7 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Canada delivered another strong performance with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, marking her fourth game this season with at least 15 points. The Dream point guard has now scored in double figures in eight of her last ten outings. Off the bench, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough was a sparkplug, finishing with 12 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting—nine of those points coming in the second half. Naz Hillmon anchored the paint with a team-high nine rebounds, keeping Atlanta competitive on the glass.

Four Dream players finished in double figures: Griner (22), Canada (18), Gray (12), and Walker-Kimbrough (12). Gray added timely buckets in the second half, while Caldwell hit a pair of threes to keep the Lynx at bay.

Atlanta’s hot shooting started early, as the Dream connected on 60 percent of their three-pointers in the opening quarter compared to Minnesota’s 28.6 percent. Griner dominated the second quarter, scoring more than half of Atlanta’s points in the period and knocking down her first three-pointer of the season. By halftime, the Dream led 46-32, shooting 60.7 percent from the field, 71.4 percent from three, and 87.5 percent from the line.

The Lynx fought back in the second half, trimming the lead, but Atlanta stayed steady behind key baskets from Gray and Walker-Kimbrough. Canada sealed the win at the free-throw line, sinking three clutch foul shots in the closing moments.

Next up: The Dream will return home to take on the Golden State Valkyries at Gateway Center Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
