FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — As the sun rose over the first week of the Atlanta Falcons’ 2025 Training Camp, owner Arthur Blank took a moment to reflect on the journey—both past and present. With fans lining the practice fields and a renewed energy surrounding the team, Blank described the start of camp with heartfelt enthusiasm.
“Training camp is like the birth of a new child,” Blank said. “We’ve had six real children in 24 seasons. So we’re excited about this year.”
Speaking to the media following the team’s third official practice, Blank expressed gratitude to the nearly 5,000 fans who attended, applauding their energy and support.
“We want to thank all the fans for coming out—number one,” he said. “It was beautiful today. The players appreciated it, we all appreciated it. It was a little warm, but everyone seemed to adjust well. It was great.”
Blank also shared how meaningful it was to embrace the Falcons’ past and future at the same time, particularly when it comes to the two Michaels—Michael Vick and Michael Penix Jr.
But beyond the excitement of the day, Blank took a deeper dive into the Falcons’ long-term vision—offering rare insight into what it takes to build and sustain success in one of the most competitive environments in sports.
At the heart of Blank’s philosophy is consistency—and not just on the field. “Consistency is paramount,” he emphasized. “It takes time to bring systems together, integrate coaches, players, and create a cohesive organization.” He pointed to three essential pillars for any NFL franchise: quality, consistent ownership; stability in general management; and a reliable quarterback.
Despite a seven-year stretch without a playoff appearance, Blank remains steadfast in his belief that deliberate growth is more sustainable than chasing quick fixes. “You can’t rush success. You invest in people, systems, and culture—and give them the space to develop,” he said.
That approach underpins the organization’s support for head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot as they lead this next era of Falcons football.
Blank also highlighted the value of professional growth through experience, praising the continued development of coaches like Morris and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. “People grow through experience,” he said. “You learn from success, but more often, you learn from challenges.”
Ultimately, he knows success in the NFL comes down to mindset and execution. “In the NFL, you’re competing against thousands of exceptional athletes,” he said. “To succeed, you must consistently raise standards and be better than ‘good.’”
Blank’s leadership extends well beyond the practice field. He champions accountability, strategic investment, and a culture of constant improvement—values that have helped shape his vision for long-term organizational success.
“If you want to be great, being good isn’t enough,” he said. “You’ve got to push beyond it—every day.”
As the Falcons prepare for the 2025 season with fresh talent, heightened expectations, and a strong foundation, Blank’s words set the tone for what’s to come—not just for the year, but for the legacy he continues to build in Atlanta.
