ATLANTA — As Atlanta United prepares to face Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, July 26 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 92.9 The Game, La Mejor), the club has made key roster moves and confirmed two players will be unavailable due to injury.
With goalkeeper Josh Cohen and midfielder Jay Fortune sidelined, Atlanta United will look to its depth as it returns home for an important Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference clash.
Cooper Sanchez Signed to Short-Term Agreement
Atlanta United has signed 17-year-old midfielder Cooper Sanchez to a Short-Term Agreement under the 2025 MLS Roster Rules. These rules allow clubs to temporarily sign players aged 25 or younger from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate (ATL UTD 2) up to four times per season.
A product of Atlanta’s Academy since 2018, Sanchez signed his first professional contract with ATL UTD 2 on July 2, 2024. He was a standout on the club’s U-16 team, which went 22-1-1 in 2023 and won the MLS NEXT Cup. Sanchez scored in the title match—a 3-1 win over Strikers FC—and has since made 23 professional appearances for ATL UTD 2.
This season, he’s started 11 of 13 matches in MLS NEXT Pro, notching two assists in 863 minutes. Sanchez is set to become a Homegrown Player on Jan. 1, 2026.
Noah Cobb Loaned to Colorado Rapids
Atlanta United also announced it has loaned defender Noah Cobb to the Colorado Rapids through the end of the 2025 season in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). The move came as the MLS Secondary Transfer Window opened on July 24.
Atlanta could receive additional GAM if Colorado exercises a permanent trade option this winter. The Five Stripes would also receive a percentage of any future transfer involving Cobb.
A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., Cobb joined the Atlanta United Academy at the U-15 level and made his professional debut with ATL UTD 2 in 2021 at just 15 years old. He signed a Homegrown contract effective Jan. 1, 2023 and has appeared in 35 MLS regular season matches (21 starts) along with two playoff games.
Internationally, Cobb is a regular with the U.S. U-19 and U-20 national teams. He helped the U.S. U-20 squad qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which kicks off this September in Chile.
