The Atlanta Hawks opened their 2025 NBA Summer League campaign with a promising 105–98 win over the Miami Heat on Friday, showcasing their young talent and setting the tone for what could be a productive offseason.
Second-year guard Kobe Bufkin led the charge with an electrifying performance, scoring a game-high 29 points. Bufkin was nearly unstoppable when attacking the basket, using his athleticism and quick first step to consistently draw contact. He earned a whopping 15 trips to the free-throw line—and converted every single one, going a perfect 15-for-15.
Bufkin’s impact went beyond just scoring. He also recorded three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks, showing growth in his all-around game. Whether it was slashing through Miami’s defense or contesting shots on the other end, Bufkin looked like a player determined to make a leap heading into the upcoming NBA season.
Atlanta’s team effort was also on display, with solid contributions across the board. The Hawks maintained control in the second half, using active defense and efficient transition play to keep the Heat at bay.
Next, the Hawks shift focus to their second Summer League matchup against the Phoenix Suns, scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at 3:00 PM as part of the 2K26 Summer League slate. With Bufkin in rhythm and momentum on their side, Atlanta will look to build on their strong start in Las Vegas.
