Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is once again facing serious legal trouble—this time, on a charge of attempted murder with a firearm. According to a warrant obtained by The Washington Post, authorities in Miami-Dade County, Florida, are seeking Brown’s arrest in connection with an altercation that took place following a celebrity boxing event in Miami on May 16.
The warrant reportedly requires Brown to post a $10,000 bond and, if released, remain under house arrest. The incident, which occurred just before midnight, was captured in videos that quickly made the rounds on social media. Footage showed Brown in handcuffs following a confrontation involving several individuals. Despite being temporarily detained at the scene, he was not arrested at the time.
Brown later addressed the situation on his social media channels, alleging that he was the victim in the altercation.
“Regarding the boxing event that happened last night, I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me,” Brown wrote. “Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”
Brown added that he planned to consult legal counsel and consider pressing charges against those involved in the altercation.
“I will be talking to my legal counsel and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process. Thank you for the support and love.”
The former All-Pro wide receiver, who won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has faced a string of legal issues in recent years, including accusations of assault, domestic disputes, and financial controversies. This latest charge, however, marks the most serious to date.
As of now, Brown has not publicly addressed the attempted murder warrant, and Miami-Dade officials have yet to confirm whether he has turned himself in.
