The Atlanta Hawks officially launched their new Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinic Program on Wednesday, June 4, at Norcross High School, setting the stage for a summer centered around skill development, confidence-building, and community connection.
Open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15, this inclusive program welcomes youth of all skill levels and focuses on sharpening shooting fundamentals through a dynamic blend of group drills and individual instruction.
Led by experienced coaches from the Atlanta Hawks Youth Basketball Development team, the clinic emphasized high-impact shooting exercises, footwork refinement, and live-play scenarios—all designed to help young players translate practice into performance. Beyond the on-court learning, each participant also received a Hawks swag bag filled with a basketball, ball pump, and t-shirt—capping off an unforgettable experience.
Adding to the excitement was a special guest appearance by Sedric Toney, a former NBA guard and 1985 Hawks draft pick. Toney connected directly with participants, offering motivational advice and firsthand insight into the game. His presence added inspiration and authenticity to the event, reinforcing the clinic’s mission to empower youth through both skill and mindset development.
“These Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinics are a fantastic opportunity for young basketball players to receive high-level instruction focused on the fundamentals of shooting,” said Jon Babul, Hawks’ Vice President of Community Impact & Basketball Programs. “Our goal is to help participants refine their shooting mechanics, build their confidence on and off the court, and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills in a fun, meaningful way.”
The Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinic Program will continue throughout the summer, making stops at various metro Atlanta locations. Clinics will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., delivering accessible, top-tier basketball instruction to youth across the region.
