Atlanta Dream Outlast Dallas Wings 83-75 Behind Career Performances and Balanced Team Effort

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Dream delivered a statement win Saturday afternoon, defeating the Dallas Wings 83-75 at Gateway Center Arena. Fueled by big performances from their starting five and key contributions off the bench, the Dream improved to 2-2 on the season with this lineup: Te-Hina Paopao, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones, and Brittney Griner.

Atlanta’s all-time record against Dallas now stands at 15-12, with an impressive 11-3 mark at home.

Brionna Jones continued her dominant start to the season, posting her fourth consecutive double-double — the longest streak to start a season in franchise history and a personal career milestone for the three-time All-Star. She finished with 11 points and a career-high-tying 15 rebounds.

Allisha Gray led all scorers with 27 points, matching her career high. Rhyne Howard facilitated the offense with 10 assists, tying her own career best and adding nine points. Brittney Griner added 15 points and eight rebounds while shooting over 50% from the field.

The Dream opened the game with a three-pointer from Howard and never looked back. Jones and Griner made their presence felt early, helping Atlanta control the boards. Gray took charge in the second quarter with a seven-point surge that gave the Dream a 37-30 halftime lead. Atlanta dominated the third quarter, outscoring Dallas 31-20 behind energetic play from Nia Coffey and Maya Caldwell off the bench.

Gray delivered in the fourth with seven more points and two blocks, including key buckets that helped secure the win in the final minutes. Caldwell fired up the crowd with a clutch three-pointer assisted by Howard, and Coffey chipped in timely scoring.

Atlanta won the rebound battle (42-38), dished out more assists (23-17), and recorded more blocks (7-3) in a well-rounded effort that showcased both their depth and defensive commitment.

The Dream finished with three players in double figures: Gray (27), Griner (15), and Jones (11).

Saturday’s win sets the tone for a pivotal weekend, with Atlanta set to host the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 PM ET — another opportunity to build momentum early in the season.
