The Atlanta Hawks will return to the award-winning State Farm Arena on Tuesday, March 4, to take on the Milwaukee Bucks. This marks the beginning of a six-game homestand, the longest of the season for Atlanta. The Hawks enter the contest fresh off a thrilling 132-130 road victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, where they dominated the paint with a season-high 82 points.
Hawks Continue to Dominate in the Paint
Atlanta’s offensive efficiency inside was on full display in Memphis, with their 82 points in the paint marking their highest total since at least the 2001-02 season and the third-highest in the NBA this season. The Hawks currently average 54.7 points in the paint per game, ranking third in the league.
Defensive Hustle Leads the East
The Hawks have been a force defensively, recording their Eastern Conference-leading 37th game with 10 or more steals. Their 37 such performances this season are the most in franchise history since the 1995-96 campaign (39). In the win over Memphis, Zaccharie Risacher led the way with four steals, while Dyson Daniels (3), Caris LeVert (3), Onyeka Okongwu (1), and Clint Capela (1) contributed to Atlanta’s defensive effort.
LeVert’s Clutch Heroics
Caris LeVert delivered a game-winning, buzzer-beating basket against the Grizzlies, capping off a stellar 25-point performance on 11-19 shooting. He was particularly dominant in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 of his 25 points on 7-8 shooting, including 2-3 from deep. LeVert became just the fifth reserve in the NBA this season to score at least 16 points on 87.5% shooting or better in a final quarter. Over his last four games, he is averaging 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 52.5% from the field and a perfect 100% from the free-throw line.
Daniels’ Defensive Masterclass
Dyson Daniels had another impactful two-way performance in Memphis, recording 14 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. His final steal of the night, his NBA-leading 10th clutch steal of the season and 170th overall, set up LeVert’s game-winner. Daniels’ 170 steals this season are tied with Paul George’s 2018-19 campaign for the most in a single season since 2017-18. He has now recorded at least one steal in 32 consecutive games, tying Dominique Wilkins for the seventh-longest streak in franchise history.
Risacher Continues to Impress
Rookie standout Zaccharie Risacher had a career night, scoring a team-high 27 points on 11-13 shooting, including 5-7 from three. He also tallied four steals, becoming the first rookie this season to record at least 27 points, four steals, and one block in a single game. Risacher has now notched three games this season with at least 25 points while shooting 60% or better from both the field and beyond the arc—the most by any rookie this year and the most in a rookie season in Hawks history.
Young Sets Franchise Assist Record
Trae Young continued his stellar playmaking, dishing out an NBA-leading 15 assists against Memphis, surpassing Doc Rivers for the most games with 15+ assists in a single season in franchise history. He now has 13 such games this season and leads the NBA with 655 total assists and 11.5 assists per game.
Roster Moves
The Hawks announced today the signing of forward Dominick Barlow to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Additionally, the team has terminated the 10-day contract of guard Kevon Harris, who had signed with Atlanta on March 1.
