Hawks Stars Ice Trae and Rook Risacher Land in San Fran for 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend

Rookie forward Zaccharie Risacher represented the Atlanta Hawks during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend by participating in the Skills Challenge. Teaming up with Alex Sarr of the Washington Wizards under the “Team Rooks” banner, the duo completed the course in 1:20.6, securing third place out of four teams.

The event was not without controversy, as Team Spurs’ Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama faced disqualification for attempting to bypass rules with illegitimate shot attempts. Ultimately, Team Cavs, featuring Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, clinched the Skills Challenge title.

Tyler Herro won the 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. He scored 24 points in the final round, narrowly defeating Buddy Hield, who finished just one point behind with 23 points, and Darius Garland, who scored 19 points. This victory marks Herro’s first win in the event, adding to his impressive season where he was also named an All-Star for the first time. He became the fifth Miami Heat player to win the Three-Point Contest, joining the likes of Glen Rice, Jason Kapono, Daequan Cook, and James Jones. Herro’s performance was highlighted by his ability to make both “Starry” three-point shots, each worth three points, which played a significant role in his win.

As the 2025 NBA All-Star Game tips off tonight 7:00 pm at the Chase Center in San Francisco, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is set to make a significant impact. After being initially overlooked in both fan voting and coaches’ selections, Young was named as an injury replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is sidelined with a left calf strain. This selection marks Young’s fourth All-Star appearance, a testament to his impressive season averages of 23.5 points and a league-leading 11.4 assists per game.

In a departure from traditional formats, this year’s All-Star Game introduces a four-team tournament. The teams, each consisting of eight players, will compete in semifinal matches aiming to be the first to score 40 points, with the winners advancing to the championship game. Young joins “Team Chuck,” selected by TNT analyst Charles Barkley, which features a roster of international talents including Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Karl-Anthony Towns, Alperen Şengün, Pascal Siakam, Victor Wembanyama, and Donovan Mitchell.

Expressing his earlier frustration over the All-Star snub on social media, Young now has the opportunity to showcase his skills on this reimagined stage. Fans eagerly anticipate how his playmaking and scoring abilities will contribute to Team Chuck’s performance in this innovative All-Star format.
