Hawks Come Up Short in 96-100 Loss to Rockets

 

The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Houston Rockets 96-100 last night, extending their losing streak to six consecutive games despite a strong defensive effort that kept the game competitive until the final minutes.

Atlanta showcased its defensive intensity by notching 11 steals, marking their league-leading 32nd game this season with 10 or more steals — the franchise’s highest total since the 1990-91 season. The Hawks, who rank second in the NBA with 10.5 steals per game, also forced 21 Houston turnovers, making it the 11th time this season they’ve forced 20 or more miscues.

Key Performances:

• Dyson Daniels: The 6’7” guard recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. He became just the seventh player this season to achieve at least 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and one block in a game. Daniels also extended his streak of games with at least one steal to 18, the longest active streak in the league.

• Trae Young: The three-time All-Star led Atlanta with 21 points and dished out a game-high nine assists. Young, in his 450th career game, continued his streak of scoring 10 or more points in 95.6% of his appearances.

• De’Andre Hunter: Coming off the bench, Hunter contributed 16 points and five rebounds in 28 minutes. He remains one of the league’s top bench scorers, averaging 19.2 points per game and recording 15 or more points in 24 games this season.

• Mouhamed Gueye: In his first career start, the forward scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Over his last two games, Gueye is averaging 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.

Despite Atlanta’s efforts, Houston’s Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green delivered pivotal performances. Sengun recorded his 28th double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Green scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
