Skyhawks Fly High with Record-Breaking Win Over Grand Rapids Gold

The College Park Skyhawks (7-4) delivered a statement performance on the second night of a back-to-back against the Grand Rapids Gold (6-7), notching a dominant 127-104 victory behind a franchise-record 25 three-pointers at Gateway Center Arena.

The win marked a historic milestone for College Park, improving their home record to an impressive 10-3 (regular season and Tip-off Tournament), the best start through 13 home games in franchise history.

Mouhamed Gueye Makes History

Atlanta Hawks forward Mouhamed Gueye was unstoppable, recording his third consecutive double-double and fourth in five games. He finished with a jaw-dropping stat line of 19 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block in 31 minutes. Gueye became just the fifth player in NBA G League history—and the first in Skyhawks history—to post such numbers in a single game. His impact was felt immediately, tallying nine points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in the first quarter alone, becoming the first player in G League history to achieve that feat in one quarter.

Kevon Harris Joins the Party

Kevon Harris added his fourth double-double of the season, contributing 25 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 34 minutes. His energy and scoring consistency were crucial in maintaining the Skyhawks’ control throughout the game.

Keaton Wallace Shines

Atlanta Hawks two-way guard Keaton Wallace flirted with a triple-double, posting 20 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 39 minutes. This marked Wallace’s sixth game of the season with 20 or more points, five or more assists, and five or more rebounds, showcasing his versatility and leadership on the court.

Contributions Across the Board

Rookie Dwight Murray Jr. poured in a career-high 15 points in addition to two rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes. The offensive depth of the Skyhawks was on full display, with seven players scoring in double digits. Jarkel Joiner (19 points), Jordan Bowden (13 points), and Daeqwon Plowden (12 points) all made significant contributions to the team’s success.

Skyhawks Take Control Early

The Skyhawks came out firing, taking a nine-point lead in the first quarter, 36-27. Gueye’s dominant first quarter set the tone, and by halftime, College Park had extended their lead to 68-53, with five players already in double figures.

In the second half, Jarkel Joiner’s three triples in the third quarter helped push the lead to 17 points. Despite a spirited run by Grand Rapids in the fourth quarter that cut the deficit to just four points, the Skyhawks closed the game with a blistering 26-7 run to seal the 23-point win.

On the Road Again

With momentum on their side, the Skyhawks now embark on a challenging four-game road trip, facing Birmingham on Jan. 26, Osceola on Jan. 28, Mexico City on Jan. 30, and returning to Birmingham on Feb. 6.

Stay tuned as the Skyhawks look to continue their impressive form and solidify their place among the G League’s top contenders!
