Skyhawks Secure Dominant 117-97 Victory Over Windy City Bulls in Home Opener

 

The College Park Skyhawks (1-1) opened their home slate of the NBA G League regular season with a convincing 117-97 win over the Windy City Bulls (1-2) on Monday night. The victory at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park marked the club’s seventh win in its last eight home games.

Record-Setting Night for Tony Bradley

Tony Bradley led the charge with a historic performance, recording 17 points (7-10 FGM), 16 rebounds, a career-high-tying four blocks, two assists, and two steals in just 27 minutes. Bradley became the first player in Skyhawks franchise history to achieve a stat line of at least 17 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks in a single game.

Plowden’s Career Night

Atlanta Hawks two-way guard/forward Daeqwon Plowden shined, tying his career-high with six three-pointers (6-12 3FGM) en route to a team-high 23 points. Plowden also contributed four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in 40 minutes, showcasing his all-around impact.

Murray Jr. Impresses in First Start

Making his first career start, Dwight Murray Jr. posted a career-high 14 points, 12 of which came in the first half. He also dished out a career-high-tying seven assists, along with one rebound and one steal in 26 minutes, helping the Skyhawks maintain their momentum throughout the contest.

Keaton Wallace’s Resilience

Atlanta Hawks two-way guard Keaton Wallace, playing his fourth game in as many days, contributed nine points, two assists, one rebound, one steal, and one block in 20 minutes off the bench.

Balanced Scoring Attack

Eight Skyhawks players scored in double figures, a feat the team had not achieved since December 31, 2022. In addition to Plowden (23), Bradley (17), and Murray Jr. (14), Kevon Harris (13), Jarkel Joiner (11), David Singleton (10), Jordan Bowden (10), and Joey Hauser (10) all made significant offensive contributions.

Game Recap

The first quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with the Skyhawks narrowly leading 20-18 at the end of the frame. The game remained tightly contested until a 16-7 run by College Park in the second quarter pushed their lead to 12 points. Windy City managed to cut the deficit to six, but Kevon Harris and Dwight Murray Jr. responded with timely buckets to give the Skyhawks a 53-44 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, College Park maintained control, outscoring the Bulls 34-29 to enter the final frame with an 87-73 advantage. Seven points each from Harris and Plowden in the quarter ensured the Skyhawks’ lead remained intact.

The fourth quarter was all College Park as they outscored Windy City 30-24, securing a 117-97 victory.

Windy City’s Top Performers

The Bulls were led by E.J. Liddell, who scored a game-high 24 points, and Adama Sanogo, who notched his fourth 20-point game of the season. Windy City also had five players score in double figures but could not overcome the Skyhawks’ balanced attack.
