The Atlanta Hawks secured a 121-116 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday (Nov 6.) at State Farm Arena marking their second consecutive win over New York. This win followed a 116-100 triumph in their last matchup (on March 5.) at Madison Square Garden.
Team Highlights
The Hawks’ victory was fueled by an impressive performance from rookie Zaccharie Risacher, who lit up the scoreboard with a career-high 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including six three-pointers. Alongside his scoring, Risacher contributed seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks, proving his potential as a critical asset for Atlanta.
Atlanta’s offense was marked by fluid ball movement, tallying 31 assists and extending their streak of games with 20 or more assists to 26. Defensively, the Hawks forced 16 turnovers from New York, converting them into 15 points. Dyson Daniels showcased his defensive prowess with four steals, extending his streak to seven games with at least one steal—a testament to his growing reputation as a defensive anchor.
Trae Young was also instrumental, scoring 23 points along with a game-high 10 assists and six rebounds. This marked his 62nd career game with at least 20 points and 10 assists, tying him with Steve Nash for 11th in NBA history. With his 15th point of the night, Young also moved past Kevin Willis for seventh place on the Hawks’ all-time scoring list.
Jalen Johnson added 23 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists, tying a franchise record for games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists by a player 23 or younger. Clint Capela contributed 18 points on perfect shooting from the field and free-throw line, while off the bench, Garrison Mathews added nine points, knocking down two three-pointers to tie his career-high streak of nine consecutive games with two or more made threes.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks with 34 points and 16 rebounds, but the Hawks’ resilience and execution in crucial moments helped them come out on top. This win also marked Atlanta’s 202nd victory over the Knicks, making New York their second-most defeated opponent in franchise history, just behind Detroit.
Up Next: This game highlighted the Hawks’ ability to control possession and capitalize on key moments, a strength they’ll look to carry forward as they head to Detroit for a game against the Pistons on Friday, November 8, before returning to host the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, November 9.
