WBC Welterweight World Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios (29-2, 18 KOs) is gearing up for a highly anticipated showdown against Abel Ramos (28-6-2, 22 KOs) in Las Vegas. The two Mexican fighters will clash in a 12-round title bout, part of a star-studded undercard for Most Valuable Promotions’ event headlined by Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson and Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor 2.
Set for Friday, November 15, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the event will be streamed live on Netflix, starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Tickets are available starting at $37 through seatgeek.com.
Barrios recently hosted a media workout to discuss his preparations for the fight, the significance of defending his title, and the excitement of competing in front of his home crowd.
“Defending my world title is a huge honor, and I know Abel Ramos is a tough opponent who always comes to fight. He’s experienced and dangerous, so I’m expecting a hard-fought battle. But I’m ready to show why I’m the champion and why this belt is staying with me,” Barrios said, acknowledging the challenge ahead.
Training camp has been rigorous, with Barrios emphasizing the meticulous approach he and his team have taken. “We’ve been putting in a lot of hard work in Las Vegas, focusing on every detail to make sure I’m ready for anything Ramos brings. I feel strong, sharp, and more motivated than ever to put on a great performance.”
The matchup also holds special significance as it will be streamed globally on Netflix, expanding boxing’s reach to new audiences. “It’s incredible to be a part of this historic event. Boxing is reaching a whole new audience, and being on this platform alongside legends like Mike Tyson is a huge opportunity. I’m excited to showcase my skills to fans all around the world.”
Fighting in Texas adds another layer of motivation for Barrios. “I’m a proud San Antonio native, and every time I fight here, I feel that extra support from the crowd. Texas has some of the best boxing fans in the world, and it’s an honor to defend my title in front of them.”
Looking ahead to the fight, Barrios promised fans an unforgettable experience. “Fans can expect me to leave it all in the ring. I’ve been training to make a statement, and I’m going to give everything I have to keep this belt. Whether you’re watching live or streaming on Netflix, you’re going to see an exciting fight and a champion determined to come out on top.”
