With a thrilling four-set victory over the second-place Supernovas, the Vibe made history once again. Their sixth straight win broke the league record and showed why they’re currently the team to beat.
Coming off a perfect road trip, the Vibe brought that momentum home to Gas South Arena, where they’ve only lost once this season. Facing the Supernovas’ powerful offense, the Vibe relied on their own offensive prowess and defensive grit to pull ahead.
Led by setter Marlie Monserez’s masterful 56 assists, the Vibe racked up a season-high 66 kills and hit at an impressive .280 clip. Middle blocker Magdalena Jehlářová was nearly unstoppable, pounding down 13 kills with only a single error for a .530 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Leah Edmond also came up big, notching 21 kills for her seventh 20-kill match this year.
Defense was key, as the Vibe dug 70 balls and tallied 22 blocks to frustrate the Supernovas attack. Five Vibe players finished with double-digit digs, while Jehlářová and Edmond each had three crucial blocks.
Riding the momentum of a record win streak and boasting the league’s top offense and defense, the Vibe seem poised to hold onto first place. This squad is dialed in and building serious momentum at exactly the right time. The chemistry is palpable and they are playing with a level of confidence that should strike fear in the hearts of any opponent. But there’s no rest for the champions, as the Grand Rapids Rise come to town on Tuesday, April 16. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. ET. Sit back and enjoy the ride – this Vibe team is building something very special.
