The two-way Hawks forward tied the franchise record for most threes made without a miss in a single game, becoming only the seventh player this season to achieve such a feat in the NBA.
Over the last eight games, the 23-year-old has been on fire, averaging over 10 points per game on an scorching 61% from the field and 53% from three-point range in about 31 minutes a night. The 25-year-old from Angola has showcased an expanded offensive arsenal recently. Murray Earns Player of the Week Honors Before Facing Pistons
After putting up impressive numbers over three games last week, Dejounte Murray was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 2.33 steals in 36.9 minutes per game to help the Hawks to a 3-0 record from March 28 through April 3.
With Atlanta battling for playoff positioning in the East, Murray’s all-around contributions have been huge.
Now the 27 year old and the Hawks have their sights set on the Pistons. Atlanta took the first two meetings with Detroit this season and will be looking for a sweep to strengthen their playoff chances. For Murray, it’s another opportunity to showcase the skills that earned him Player of the Week honors.
If Murray continues to put up numbers like he did last week, the Hawks should be in a good position to grab another win over the Pistons tonight. His dynamic play at both ends of the floor has ignited Atlanta during this critical stretch of the season. After a rocky start to the year, Murray appears to have found his groove and gives the Hawks a star to build around for years to come.
With the way they’ve been playing, you’re pumped to tune in tonight. Let’s see if the Hawks can keep up their hot shooting and take down the Pistons on their home court. With the talent and momentum they have, they could easily notch another W. Let’s go Hawks!
