Atlanta native and five-time Grammy winner has been killing it in the music game for over two decades. From his early days with hip-hop crew Goodie Mob to his reinvention as Gnarls Barkley, CeeLo has shown he’s got the vocals and versatility to adapt his sound while still keeping fans hooked.
Now the artist is coming back home to represent at halftime of the Atlanta Hawks game on March 28. The Hawks just announced CeeLo will be hitting the State Farm Arena stage, thanks to presenting sponsor Jack Daniels. Get ready for the funky sounds of “Crazy,” “Forget You,” and more hits when the hometown hero takes over mid-game.
CeeLo said it himself: “Atlanta, this is your native son. Come see me represent the city at the Hawks’ halftime show! No one does it like me…We going up!” You already know the Hawks bring the hype with their musical acts. From Arrested Development to Young Dro, they’ve hosted hip-hop legends all season long. And you know CeeLo will be ready to bring down the house.
You heard it from the man himself, Atlanta. CeeLo Green is coming home to put on an epic halftime show you won’t want to miss. As a native son of the ATL, CeeLo knows how to throw down and get the crowd hyped. With his mix of hip-hop, funk, soul, and straight-up catchy pop jams, a CeeLo concert is always a party.
Past Halftime Performers at Hawks Games This Season
The Hawks have featured an all-star lineup of performers to hype up the crowd during halftime this season. In November, Atlanta legends Goodie Mob took the court to celebrate Thanksgiving with a medley of their hits like “Cell Therapy” and “Black Ice.” The hip hop group has been repping the city since the ‘90s and showed Hawks fans they’ve still got it.
Other local artists like JID, Killer Mike, and Yung Dro have also made appearances. JID, one of the hottest new rappers from Atlanta, had the arena bouncing to songs from his latest album. Killer Mike, best known as one half of Run the Jewels, delivered a high-energy set highlighting his politically-charged lyrics and trap music beats. Yung Dro got the throwback party started, performing Atlanta classics like “Yes Sir” and “Polo Down.”
On the R&B and gospel front, the Hawks brought in Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Marvin Sapp. Leonard, a Grammy-winning artist, filled the arena with her inspiring worship songs and powerhouse vocals. Sapp, the contemporary gospel legend, had fans praising and singing along to uplifting anthems like “Never Would Have Made It.”
Rounding out the lineup were pop and rock acts like Yacht Rock Revue, who cruised through crowd-pleasing soft rock hits of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and Keri Hilson, the multi-platinum R&B singer and songwriter. The Hawks aim to have something for everyone this season. With CeeLo Green’s show-stopping performance coming up, they’re sure to end the season on a high note.
So clear your calendar for the night of March 28th. Grab your crew, get to State Farm Arena early, and get ready to dance your heart out when CeeLo takes the stage. This is gonna be one for the books, Atlanta! Trust me, you’ll regret it if you miss seeing a homegrown music icon like CeeLo represent our city in front of a crowd full of Hawks pride. I’ll see you there – let’s go Hawks!
