The Atlanta Glads returned to home ice on Sunday Nov 5. to take on the South Carolina Stingrays
In the opening frame the Stingrays Ken O’Neil fired back with the first goal of the evening(3:46).
Glads responded back with a goal by Michael Marchesan (11:26) to even the score 1-1 making it his first professional goal of the season.
South Carolina hunkered down in the defensive zone. Stingray Patrick Harper fired up on a powerplay to take the 2-1 lead at the conclusion of the first period.
The script was flipped, as Derek Nesbit squad seemed to react to his intermission message. Atlanta’s energized plan in the offensive zone, begin to shine. The Glads capitalize on Reece Vitelli backhand to tie things back up 2-2.
At the end of the second period there was only one goal secured and it was by the Glads.
It took twenty-seven seconds into the final period for Jack Matier to strike from the blue line for Atlanta to take the first lead of evening. Shortly afterwards Matier scored again to make it his second back to back goal of the contest and put Atlanta ahead by two goals.
The Glads kept up their rampant pace on offense, while South Carolina fell into a tizzy trying to slow down Atlanta’s pace but all efforts went unfaded as the Glads skated away with a 4-2 win.
The Glads are currently undefeated (6-0).
Up Next: The Gladiators hit the road Friday Nov. 10 to take on the Stingrays again in South Carolina and then the Icemen in Jacksonville on Sat Nov. 11. The team will return to home ice on Tuesday, November 14 to take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the School Day Game. Puck drops at 10:30 AM.
