Atlanta United played to a 0-0 draw against LAFC Wednesday night at BMO Stadium, extending the team’s unbeaten run to five matches. Brad Guzan made eight saves, doubling his previous best from this season and just one away from his all-time club record, and recorded his 50th MLS regular season clean sheet with Atlanta.
Guzan made his 150th MLS regular season start for Atlanta in goal, becoming the first player in club history to reach 150 starts and the 15th goalkeeper in MLS history to reach that mark with a single club. He was called into action early and often throughout the match, making five saves in the first half to keep the score level.
Atlanta had an opportunity in the 83rd minute when Caleb Wiley received the ball inside the left side of the box and cut the ball back to fellow Homegrown Ajani Fortune, however his shot went just wide of the near post.
“Obviously, we want to play better, especially away, but happy with the mentality of keeping the clean sheet. A clean sheet always gives us a point. And it’s a tough opponent. “ said Atlanta United Head Coach Gonzalo Pineda. “It’s the champion, the team at the top of the West, the team that went to the final of CCL so we have to respect that and value this point because it was earned with good defending.”
