Game 4 Atlanta on the Brink of Elimination after loss to Boston

Coming off a breathtaking win on Friday to make the series 2-1, the Hawks fell to the Celtics 121-129 on Sunday at State Farm Arena.

In the first quarter the Hawks trailed the Celtics by 10 points.

Midway through the 2nd the hawks trailed by 13 points. Atlanta struggle throughout with missing opportunities at the end of the 2nd  the Hawks continued to trail the Celtics by 12 points.

During the third quarter the Hawks tried to find their rhythm and was able to cut the deficient to 5 points behind Bogi 3 pointer.

In the final period Atlanta begin to slowly lose their confidence. At one point Boston led by 10 points. Atlanta’s defense seemed lethargic and the team displayed a disconnect in communication. At the end the lack of communication was the boost Boston needed to take game 4 and lead the series 3-1.

The Hawks dished out 25 assists making it the first time the Hawks have dished out 25+ assists in a postseason game since Game 3 of the first round against New York on 5/28/21.

Trae Young recorded his ninth postseason double-double with his game high 35 points and 15 assists, becoming just the fifth player in NBA postseason history to record at least 35 points and 15 assists, joining Jerry West (2x), Walt Frazier, John Bagley and Allen Iverson .

De’Andre Hunter collected a season-high 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 40 minutes, marking Hunter’s second career postseason game of at least 25 points and five rebounds.

Dejounte Murray rounded of scoring efforts with 23 points. Murray has tallied at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in all four games this series, marking the second-longeset such streak in franchise history, trailing only Lenny Wilkens’ five straight such games in the 1967 NBA Playoffs .

“We gotta have a lot of guys play well.” said coach Snyder on the upcoming match up against Boston.

Next Up: Atlanta head to Boston for a must-win for Game 5 to avoid elimination in the first round of the playoffs. Dejounte Murray’s return for Game 5 in Boston  is questionable. He was seen post game walking up on referee Gediminas Petraitis, and bumping him. Although it is not clear whether or not the bump/contact was intentional. He was escorted off the court by Hawks security. Currently he is under investigation by the NBA. Stay tuned for updates.
