Hawks Take Down Cavs 120-118

The Hawks wrapped up their three game home-stand after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-118 on Hispanic Heritage Night Tuesday 3/28 at State Farm Arena.

In Atlanta’s most recent outing on Sunday March 26 against the Memphis Grizzlies, the team fell short 119-123, but tallied a season-high 31 second chance points.

Tuesday contest marked the third and final time these two clubs will meet during the 2022-23 regular season.

 

The Hawks have now won six out of the last eight against Cleveland, and five straight at State Farm Arena.

Atlanta has poured in 100-or-more points in 51 straight games (12/9/22-present), the longest active such streak in the NBA and the second-longest such streak in franchise history

Atlanta dished out 25 assists, marking the fifth game in a row and the sixth game out of the last seven the Hawks have recorded 25-or-more assists

Atlanta had seven players score in double digits.

Dejounte Murray led the team in scoring a team-high 29 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in 35 minutes, marking Murray’s 10th game of the year recording 25+ points, 5+ assists and 2+ steals.

Onyeka Okongwu added a career-high tying 21 points, Bogdan Bogdanovic netted 12

Trae Young captured his 37th point/assist double-double of the season, with his 16 points,10 assists, one rebound and one steal , making it the most such double-doubles by any player in the NBA during the 2022-23 campaign. Young also owns the fourth-most assists in a single season in franchise history (2021-22, 737).

Both John Collins and Clint Capela dished out 12 points a piece.

Saddiq Bey rounded of the scoring efforts with his second double-double as a Hawk, 11 points 10 rebounds , and three assists.

“I love adversity, I feel adversity builds the best people.” said Murray at the post game press conference.

Atlanta outscored the Cavaliers 44-14 off the bench and 21-12 in points off of turnovers.

Next Up: Atlanta is headed to the big Apple to face the Brooklyn Nets Friday night 3/31.

Atlanta will return home Sunday 4/1 to face the Dallas Mavericks.
